Fire Safety and Burns Awareness Week, 2023
In collaboration with the Sponsor, (Kenya Power and Lighting Company) the Fund participated in this year’s Fire Safety and Burns Awareness Week which was held from the 11th to 15th September 2023. This is a seven-day event organized by the Burn Society of Kenya (BSK), in conjunction with other fire safety stakeholders, aimed at sensitizing and creating awareness amongst the public about fire disaster management.
This year, the theme was ‘Fire, a dangerous friend. Safety, your responsibility’ and some of the organizations that took part include the Kenya Red Cross Society, the County Government of Nairobi, Kenyatta National Hospital(KNH) among others. The event was marked by processions in different parts of the County where participants took time to sensitize the public on fire safety. The Fund supported this noble initiative through donations, as well as physical participation of the Secretariat in the processions. On the closing speeches, it was notably highlighted that the reported cases of fire disasters had significantly reduced since the exercise began which is a testament to the impact of this initiative.
The Fund remains committed to supporting such programs in the future, guided by the CSR Policy in place in a bid to uplift the communities within which we do business.
